Abstract (EN)

This research was carried out within the scope of determining the temporal changes in the use of agricultural and urban areas in the central district of Nigde province with Sentinel-2 satellite images. Within the scope of the study, satellite images of April, July and October in 2016 and 2021 were used. Arc GIS 10.3.1 from Geography Information Systems (GIS) software was used to analyze the change in land cover and use. Classification was carried out using controlled classification techniques with the help of the remote sensing module of the related program. Corine I. level classification was taken into account from the classification of land cover and use. In addition, some soil and land characteristics (large soil groups, land use capabilities, soil depths, land slope, erosion degrees, elevation and aspect) of the research area were classified and spatially evaluated in the GIS environment using 1/25.000 scale digital soil maps. As a result of the classifications, an increase of 207.65 ha in residential areas and artificial areas, and 478.66 ha in forest and semi-natural areas from 2016 to 2021. It was determined that there was a decrease of 223.75 ha in agricultural areas and 88.66 ha in water bodies. The results obtained as finding of the research will make significant contributions to the planning stages of the local governments in the region.
