Abstract (EN)
This thesis identifies women's and men's clothing and jewelry products in Tokat between 1770 and 1830. It aims to evaluate these issues from a social and economic perspective. It is examined how clothing and jewelry emerging from history are reflected in tangible and intangible cultural sources in the fields of fine arts, art history, religion, folk culture, literature, music, painting, sociology and economics. In the research, the archive records were read at first, the read data were transferred to excel, the entries in excel were tabulated and the thesis was started to be written with the contribution of interdisciplinary studies by obtaining separate results for each title. With the estate records examined, the types of clothing and jewelry products used by men and women were classified; total quantities, unit prices, price ranges and average prices were calculated. The study consists of an introduction, four main chapters, conclusion, bibliography and appendices. In the first part, product types belonging to women's clothing were identified. Titles were created according to their usage status. The findings are supported with sub-titles. Clothing choices of women from Tokat were detected. In the second part, according to the existing data, women's jewelry is grouped according to their uses. Analyses were made on the basis of type and size. In the third part, the titles of the products of men's clothing were determined according to their uses. However, since Tokat was an active market in manufacturing and marketing, the marked-price merchandise in the estate records of merchants and artisans was also taken into account. In the fourth part, men's jewelry was examined. Jewelry is classified according to the way they are used. In addition, the prices of gold coins in estate records were used to detect inflation during the period of the study. The data present in the study is supported with visuals. It is clarified with the findings in tables and graphs. In addition, a dictionary of clothing and jewelry has been added at the end of the thesis.
