A research on design and implementation of lighting automation system with LED lamp for greenhouses

Abstract (EN)

In this research, a LED (Light Emitting Diode) growth lighting automation system, which is aimed to use in greenhouses and plant growth chambers was designed and its prototyping has been conducted. In the study, light distribution performance, power consuming and thermal condition of the LED packs were considered. Additionally, a case study was presented on tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) seedlings and their experimental results have been evaluated. According to the experimental results, maximum photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) values of 824.5, 967.7, 173.3, 38.2, 1129.3, 1141.3, 1784.5 ?mol.m-2.s-1 and maximum illuminance values of 57210, 29660, 1992, 519.3, 31110, 30300 and 82620 lx were obtained for Cool White, Red, Blue, UV-A, Red-Blue, Red-Blue-UV-A and total of LED groups respectively. A numerical method based thermal analysis was conducted for the LED lamp considering the simulation results a heat sink selection has been conducted for the LED lamp. Finally, design of a led lighting automation system, which can provide desired lighting values, and its implementation to the agricultural production has been concluded with success. Possibilities of the LED light sources can contribute to provide to the increasing demand for high quality horticultural products and to the conservation of natural environment. These results would provide a quite wide perspective and useful contributions for future studies in the agricultural production research fields such a plant tissue culture and plant growth chambers.
