Abstract (EN)

Ceramics has been used for different purposes because of its structural features like its variability, technical variety since it has been included in human life. At first it has been used to fulfil the needs; however, with an aesthetical apprehension it has been turned into an artistic phenomenon. This aesthetical apprehension along with the components like texture, fullness, emptiness and decoration, mixed materials has been used both in ceramics forms and surfaces. While these components have been used, new pursuits in forms and surfaces emerged. This pursuit has emerged because of the need and becomes methods in which sometimes colour, stain or different techniques are used. One of these is mosaic technique, which emerged as a result of fulfilling needs, and is firstly used by Sumerians in 4000 B.C. Mosaic started to be used in the art of ceramics in the early 1900s with the emergence of different artistic movements and took its place in the art of ceramics. In this research the co-occurrence of mosaic and ceramics material in contemporary art of ceramics is going to be examined and the relationship between contemporary art of ceramics and mosaic is going to be evaluated and supported by the Eskişehir Open-Air Museum of Modern Ceramics.
