Abstract (EN)
Along with the technological breakthroughs in 20th century, innovations became current issues in many fields of production and in parallel with these, significant developments were experienced in the field of industrial design. Especially, computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing technologies have started to be used in every stage of production processes, from product development to production; while meeting the expectations in issues such as product quality, financial saving and reducing production time exceedingly. These new technologies which are also used in ceramics sector enable us to find solutions for the production problems to be encountered during the phase of design, while increasing the competition in the sector, as well. The three dimensional printing technology which is accepted as the recent development of new Industrial Revolution that expresses digital transformation of production systems, is a field of specialization which continues to be developed as the last stage where computer aided design and production technologies has reached. This technology which emerged as one of the methods of rapid prototyping was commercialized in the last quarter of 20th century by being patented. It has been developed in time and new types have emerged that operate with different principles in accordance with the properties of the material and the product to be produced. In the beginning of 21st century, three dimensional printing has become a method of production utilized in different fields of design such as architecture, ceramics, sculpture, fashion and artistic fields, besides being used in scientific fields such as medicine, engineering etc. This study covers the data related to applications that were obtained by using three dimensional ceramic printers with different operation principles, types of these printers and comparisons of ceramics raw materials that were used. Additionally, within the context of this thesis, which includes researchers, who have been working with three dimensional printers and the experiences of ceramics artists; new forms which were designed on digital platform and shaped by 3D printer, later developed by hand building and supported with personal interpretations, were described in detail. This study, which was prepared by believing that, the use of 3D printers in the field of ceramics art would bring new perspectives to the artists, is expected to contribute to this field, in terms of bringing new suggestions by three dimensional printers being approached as new shaping tools in the field of ceramics.
