The dark side of leisure time: Digital game addiction and deviation relation

Abstract (EN)
This research's purpose is to reveal the negative relationship of deviant Leisure time with quality of life and the relationship between gaming addiction as a tolerable Leisure time activity and deviance. The research's purpose is to have in hand both the positive and negative aspects of the deviant Leisure time phenomenon with the metaphor "dark side" and to reveal its invisible side that is behind the scenes. In this research quantitative data collection tools were used. This research's questions was implemented by creating an online link and that link was delivered randomly. Research is based on voluntary participation. The survey was applied to 450 participants. Then, frequency tables were created from the research data through the SPSS program. The participants of the research were comparatively analyzed in the context of dependent variables such as gender, age, educational status and family structure. There are topics such as budget for computer games associated with gender, keeping up to date with computer games, and tendencies towards betting and similar games of chance are included. In addition, comparisons have been made findings regarding substance use according to gender variable, tendency to go to internet cafes, suffer an affront in computer games and including a gender perspective on what makes people happiest. Comparisons were made regarding the content of topics such as substance use status, the effect of the surrounding people on the decrease in game time, and the effect of changing the family on time, according to the variability of the educational status of the sample. The age variable of the sample are compared to the status of having one's own computer, findings regarding friendship relations, the effect of the environment on game time and the effect of the family on the time spent on the computer. Within the scope of the findings of the research, it was revealed that there is a significant relationship between the frequency of playing digital games and deprivation of leisure time. According to the research the effect of pandemic emerges as another favtor of the digital games addiction caused the increase of spending time with computer.
