Abstract (EN)

The financial assessment of the abrasion occurring in the cutting tools which are used in the manufacturing industry has a great importance in terms of production costs. With the development in CNC machine technology, materials can be processed at very high cutting speeds. Therefore, estimation of the behaviors of the cutting tool, which results in abrasion, has become a necessity in order that production costs are determined. In this work, ceramic cutting tools were used during the hard turning processes of hardened AISI 4140 steel (51-53 HRC). Behaviors of the cutting tool that are shown against the abrasion were monitored with on-line monitoring method for different cutting parameters. These experiments were made in 150 and 180 m/min cutting speeds, 0.04, 0.08 and 0.12 mm/rpm feed rate and 0.2 mm depth of cut. The effectiveness of cutting parameters was investigated in the wear of cutting tool. The multiple averages of results obtained by the method of variance analysis (ANNOVA) were found significantly different from each other. For the determined experimental conditions, the parameter of the feed rate was obtained as the most important factor that affects the wear of cutting tool.
