Abstract (EN)
Objective:The aim of our study was to develop a practical non-invasive test for the diagnosis of endometriosis by evaluating the peritoneal liquid and serum levels of Interleukin-1, 6, 8, 11, 18, TNF-?, PAPP-A, Leptin and CA-125 in the patients with endometriosis.Material-Method:After having the Cukuoruva University ethical commity approval, the study was held in Cukurova University Medical Faucilty Obstetrics and Gynecology Department between June 2005 and December 2007. 15 patients with endometriosis was our study group and 22 patients without endometriosis were our control group. During laparoscopy peritoneal liquid and peripheral blood sample were taken and Interleukin-1, 6, 8, 11, 18, TNF-?, PAPP-A, Leptin and CA-125 were measured in Cukurova University Balcalı Hospital Biochemistry Laboratory. Results:Median age of the patients was 30 (min-max: 20-44) and median BMI of the patients was 25 (min-max: 20-31). Serum CA-125 levels of the patients with endometriosis were higher than the controls (p=0.03). Peritoneal liquid IL-18 levels of patients with dysparonia were lower than normals (p=0.029). Peritoneal liquid leptin levels of patients with endometriosis were lower than the controls (p=0.007).Conclusions:Variable cytokines are tought to be responsible in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Peritoneal liquid leptin level was lower in advanced endometriosis. Serum CA-125 level may be used in the diagnosis ond follow-up of endometriosis. The results of the study conducted were similar to the literature.Key Words: Endometriosis, Ctokines, Peritoneal Liquid, Serum, Laparoscopy.
