The effects of artcure transdermal diffusional patch treatment in patients with cervical disc herniation

The Effects of Artcure Transdermal Diffusional Patch Treatment in Patients with Cervical Disc Herniation Objective: The aim of this study was to search the efficiency artcure transdermal diffusional patch treatment on pain and fuctional situation in patients with cervical disc herniation. Methods: Forty-eight patients in the 21-59 age range with a diagnosis of cervical disc herniation were included in the study. Individuals were randomized as diffusional patch group and placebo group. After obtaining the demographic information of all individuals, the pain was evaluated by using visual analogue scale, neuropathic pain was evaluated by using Leeds Assessment of Neuropathic Symptoms and Signs Scales (LANSS), neck disability index (NDI) was used to determine functional level. In the beginning, 4th and 12th weeks' results of all individuals were acquired. Diffusional transdermal patch and placebo patch were administered for both patient groups once for 24 hours as suggested. Results: A total of 48 patients (33 females and 15 males) with a mean age of 48.33±8.99 were included in the study. In the diffusional transdermal group, it was detected that the pain decreased, the neuropathic symptoms recuring and the functional level improved compared to the initial parameters. In terms of neuropathic symptoms and functional level, it was detected that there was a difference between groups in terms of pain on the 4th and 12th weeks and the difference was detected in the diffusional transdermal group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Based on these results, it was found that diffusional transdermal patch treatment were effective in reducing pain, decreasing neuropathic sysmptoms and improving functional level in cervical disc herniation patients compared to placebo patch treatment.
