Prognostic factors for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 1: A retrospecti̇ve cohort study

The aim of this retrospective study is to identify the factors determining the prognosis in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 1 (CIN 1) and to consider them during the follow-up process.Between 01.01.2015 and 31.12.2021, a study was conducted on patients who applied to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Akdeniz University Hospital. The study aimed to evaluate factors influencing the persistence and progression of lesions in patients diagnosed with CIN 1 through colposcopic biopsy.A total of 822 patients diagnosed with CIN 1, who met the study criteria, were included in the analysis. Factors affecting the persistence and progression of lesions during the follow-up process were analyzed. The median age of the patients was 42 years (range: 35-49). The rates of persistent CIN 1+, CIN 2+, and CIN 3+ were 14.1%, 1.5%, and 0.1%, respectively. The post-colposcopy HPV positivity rate was significantly higher in the group of patients with persistence and progression (5.5% and 74.4%, respectively; p<0.001). Accordingly, it was determined that post-colposcopy HPV positivity increased the risk of developing persistent CIN 1+, CIN 2+, or CIN 3+.Postcolposcopic HPV positivity increases the risk of persistent CIN 1+, CIN 2+ or CIN 3+ development.
