Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the anatomical structures and physiological systems that produce the human voice are examined and the factors affecting the vocal health negatively are explained. Attitudes of the students of Opera Art Major in Anadolu University to protect their vocal health are attempted to determine with these factors considered. In the first part of the thesis, the emergence and development of opera art was discussed in the historical process. Thereafter, the introduction and development of the art of opera in Turkey was examined. In the second part physical properties of voice, studies on human voice and anatomical structures that produce the human voice are investigated. In the third part, various factors affecting the vocal mechanism and thus the vocal health, were discussed and explained in light of the scientific sources. In this section, the most common and mostly non-prescription medications' direct or indirect effects on the vocal mechanism are widely discussed. This is the first study to involve both opera and pharmacy fields in Turkey. In the method part which is the third part of the thesis, the research technique used in the study, population and sample sets and the data collection tools were explained in detail. Obtained findings and interpretations on these findings were shared in the fourth part of the thesis. Attitudes of students of Anadolu University State Conservatory, Opera Art Major, which is the sample set of the study, for their vocal health and hygiene were gathered through semi-structrued question form. Students' information about protection of vocal health, anatomy and physiology of voice production were measured. The obtained data were evaluated using qualitative and quantitative research methods and the results were shared.
