Abstract (EN)

The relationship between faith and action is one of the important subjects of kalām science. This issue, which dates back to the Hijri second century of Islamic history, has emerged in the direction of whether the action is part of the faith. Even though it has emerged in such a historical period, this issue has been discussed from almost every period of Islamic history. A significant part of these discussions was two opposing views, "the action is part of faith, therefore there is no faith without the action" and "action and faith are two different, and there is faith without the action". There is a consensus among Islamic scholars that those who believe and do righteous action are considered to be true believers. However, they disagree on whether they are considered true believers when they believe but do not do righteous action. Over time, both sides tried to prove their thoughts, and this issue became more systematic and by this way preserved its important in the kalām. Sayyid Qutb, one of the important Islamic scholars of the past century, has included detailed explanations relation to faith in his works. Qutb has presented his thoughts on this issue basing on his own unique comments but avoiding kalām discussion. The method he used in his view on faith is to bring evidence to the center of the limitation of reason by centering religious resources. The study explains the opinions of Sayyid Qutb, who is one of scholars of Egypt in the last period, on the faith and action. Depending on these views, what duties and responsibilities of Muslims are, have been explained in terms of re of relationship between faith and action. In the first chapter of the study, Qutb's thought of religion has been included because it provides a basis for his views on faith. In the second chapter, Qutb's approach to the concepts of faith and action has been discussed. In the third chapter, how the relationship between faith and action was established and the importance of action in his thought have been revealed. Since Qutb's understanding of faith is at the center of his ideas, this study also reveals his thought system. Sayyid Qutb has attached great importance to action in his thoughts on faith. According to him, a faithful person must perform actional responsibility by means of praticing basic obligations like ṣalāt and zakāt, etc. and avoiding basic prohibitions like denial, interest, etc. However, his approach regarding the relationship between faith and action is not in the form of a piece-whole relationship like the view of the Khawārij. Qutb's approach on this issue is close to the views of the predecessors (salaf scholars). Therefore, Qutb does not declare those who commit major sins as an unbeliever, unlike the Khawārij. By stating that the door to repentance is open to all sins except polytheism (shirk), he does not consider the faithful person who gives up action to be an disbeliever.
