Abstract (EN)
Historians and sociologists take the foundations of cities as the base of civilisation. It is a common idea that cities have an important role in all civilisations that sometimes it is taken as a synonym for civilisation. The significance of city research on formation of sogiology as a discipline can not be undermined. Thus, cities become a main factor of transition to capitalism in western societies and places it to the center of western historical progress. The main concept in Sezai Karakoc`s thought is civilization. Civilisation, by its definition is a global case. Civilisation by its aspect towards an individual of whole humanity is not only a system providing for the physical need of human being but also aims to provide for the moral, metaphysical and cultural needs. Karakoc places himself in Islamic civilisation which he sees as the last of the divine civilisations. Karakoc, who thinks cities mirror civilisation; takes Madinah built by the Prophet and the muslim cities based historically on this model as base of his city concept.
