The levels of knowledge regarding cesarean section women who have had a cesarean section

ABSTRACTThis study has been done descriptively with the aim of determining theknowledge of women who have had cesarean delivery about ceserean, perioperativepreperation and advantages and disadvantages of cesarean.The samples of this research contain 152 women who have had a C/S atMediterranean University Hospital and at Private An-Deva Hospital (82 women whohave had a C/S from Akdeniz University Hospital, 70 women who have had a C/Sfrom Private An-Deva Hospital). Data collected by using of a questionnaire form,which was prepared to evaluate the knowledge of women about cesarean delivery,it?s perioperative preperation and advantages and disadvatages. Student?s t test,ANOVA, and chi-square test were used in evaluation of the data by using SPSS-12package programme.In this study, the mean age of participants was 28.5 (±5.15) years (range: 16-45years). Our data suggest that the women have had considerable level of informationabout perioperative procedures of cesarean but weren?t informed enough about thereasons and applications of some protective skills such as deep breathing exercises.At this study it has been found that while the advantages of cesarean are knownmore, the disadvantages are known less. Difference between the education, age, workcondition, a previous birth experience and the learning time of women who will havea C/S and the knowledge about cesarean was statistically significant.In accordance with the results received some recommendations have been madeabout informing, educating and counseling women about what was cesarean,perioperative preperation and the risks and benefits of cesarean during prepartumperiod.Key Words: Cesarean, Perioperative Preparation, Advantage, Disadvantage.ii
