Abstract (EN)

In underground coal mining, the stability of the main galleries that provide service to longwalls where production activities are carried out is important in order to ensure regular production, transportation and ventilation. Rock mass classification systems are useful design tools based on observation for the main galleries, taking into account the design objectives and the geology of the site. In this thesis titled investigation of opening stability and structural classification in the main transport galleries of SFH Mining, the terms of rock material and mass are explained and some rock mass classification systems applied in coal mines are introduced in the second chapter. In addition, the parameters (strength, discontinuity, water, etc.) in the existing rock mass classification systems have been examined and evaluated in terms of applicability in the Zonguldak coal basin and SFH Mining field which is being examined within the scope of the thesis. In the third chapter, information about SFH Mining site, method and occupational safety applications are given. In the structural region classifications which were obtained from the insitu observations and investigations, additional arrangements were made according to hard coal mine conditions to GSI chart for heterogeneous and layered rock mass conditions proposed by Marinos and Hoek (2001). In general, it has been proved that the relevant GSI chart can be used in the classification of structural regions in hard coal mines.
