Abstract (EN)

Awareness-raising activity on environmental problems is increasing. However, with the increase in environmental problems, the awareness of the public about environmental problems is falling behind. Lack of awareness about the environment or incomplete and wrong knowledge keeps the problems on the agenda as a chronic problem. Past exemples of environmental behaviors shows some communicative problems. This communicative problems can be managed by creating a public opinion about environmental awareness and increasing sensitivity. Non-governmental organizations, all ministries dealing with nature and the environment are stakeholders in raising the said public and awareness. According to the basic assumption of this thesis, all stakeholders related to the environment work collectively in cooperation and coordination for the public to develop a sensitive awareness, but these studies contain some problems. The level of perception of environmental problems from past to present is also an indicator of the level of consciousness of environmental consciousness. Therefore, the level of awareness of individuals, parental behaviors they take as role-models, and whether the training provided is sufficient can be determined by following public studies. It is worth investigating whether people with environmental awareness follow environmental campaigns and whether people who are not environmentally conscious are insensitive to these campaigns. Thus, another assumption of the research is based on the consciousness of individuals who are environmentally conscious, do not behave in a way that harms their environment, decompose their waste, and are sensitive to recycling. However, the inability to separate waste batteries and not find a waste bin for batteries is an obstacle to the functioning of a public campaign such as zero waste. The zero waste project is a campaign created both to increase environmental awareness and to support the conscious behavior of individuals who are sensitive to the environment. Another problem focused on in this study is to question whether these and similar projects are realized as illusions or to create awareness. The zero waste project, taken as an example, is one of the projects aiming at environmental protection, improvement and waste management. In the study, quantitative empirical method design and data were collected by questionnaire technique. Awareness-recognition status of the zero waste project, the adequacy of the training provided, the level of awareness of the individuals, the impressions left by the environmental training on the employees are the subjects sought to be answered in the survey questions. The second analysis level of the research is the contextual analysis of the communication campaign on the zero waste project in classical and digital network channels. The study aims to draw a descriptive conclusion about environmental awareness by comparing these two data sets with each other. All social media accounts of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the Zero Waste project were analyzed based on the last year within the framework of this study. Both profiles of the ministry of environment, urbanism and climate change and zero waste profiles were examined on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube channels. In the survey study, which constitutes the other branch of the project, it was generally tried to reach individuals of all ages. It has been applied mostly in institutional areas, government institutions, universities and high schools. Key Words : Waste, Environment, Education, Environmental Awareness, Zero Waste,
