Antibiotic susceptibility and isolation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from clinical mastitis in cattle

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study were isolation of environmental mastitis factor Pseudomonas aeruginosa from clinical mastitis cattles in Aydin and determination of antibiotic sensitiveness of that isolated factors. Totally 200 clinical mastitis milk samples collected from different centers have been analyzed. Collected samples were brought to The Routine Diagnostic Laboratory of Microbiology Department, Veterinary Faculty, Adnan Menderes University under cold chain. Then was allowed to incubate for 24 hours at 37 ºC. For differentiation of Pseudomonas species, selective media were used and isolated bacteria were identified based on biochemical assays. Seven P. aeruginosa strains (% 3,5) were isolated and identified from 200 analyzed mastitis milk samples. All the studied strains were found sensitive to Danofloxacin, Linmycine/Neomycin, Cefoperazone, Colistin sulphate (% 100) and resistant to Penicillin/Novobiocin, Amoxycillin Clavulanic Acid, Ceftiofur, Kanamycin/Cephalexin, Erythromycin (% 100). Resistant two strains, moderately sensitive 3 strains and sensitive two strains were present against Florphenicol. Five strains were found moderately sensitive (% 71) to Sulfamethoxazole-Trimethoprim, while two strains were resistant to same antibiotic. Resistance to Oxytetracycline occurred in 5 strains (% 71), as two strains were moderately sensitive (% 29). In this study, isolation and identification of P. aeruginosa from environmental mastitis cases were performed in Aydın province. As a conclusion, usage of Danofloksasin, Linkomisin/Neomisin, Sefaperazon and Kolistin Sülfat were proved to bring success in treatment.
