Shakespeare?s four final plays, The Tempest, Pericles, The Winter?s Tale and Cymbeline are classified as Romances, and they bear a common emotion of Renaissance: deep admiration to and longing fort he ancient culture. Shakespeare enriched the Romance tradition, which had been surviving since the Ancient Grek period, by adding mythological pagan gods, some legendary characters and myths. There are some common features in Shakespeare?s Romances. They resemble to each other in plot structure. The main characters are noble-whether they are lovers, husband and wife,or parents- they are representative of ?good? moral, honor, and virtue, but, in on way or the other, they become separated. The seperations generally result from some supernatural elements which the protagonists do not exactly understand. After various adventures, the main characters reunite at and, they restore their situation, and the ?bad? ones are always punished. The action in the plays arises from the conflicts between the noble characters. The timespan is large and contains the past events also. The atmosphere is magical and ornamented with supernatural and mythic events, and the elements of human destiny and fortune are abundant
