Abstract (EN)

The ancient city of Side has been an important stopping point with its location in the Eastern Mediterranean and has been at the center of trade for many years. Being a port city, trade has been the main source of livelihood of the city. In addition to the trade of slaves and game animals, products such as olive oil, wheat and sesame were also traded in the city. Scales have an important place for weighing/measuring the products produced in the region. The bronze scales and their parts identified during the studies conducted in the Ancient City of Side were described and the artifacts were compared with typologically similar examples and dated. The measurement systems on the artifacts of different sizes were determined and it was tried to understand what kind of measurement systems were used in Side.
