Özet (EN)

Smoking, one of the environmental factors that play a role in the initiation and progression of periodontal disease, affects the pathogenesis and development of periodontal disease by acting in local and systemic ways. The aim of this study; is the measure of the concentration of adropine in gingival fluid samples that is closely related to the dysfunction that cigarettes and periodontal diseases cause in the endothelial wall to form with the same mechanism of action and to reach new data on the pathophysiology of the relationship between periodontal disease and smoking. 40 patients (20 smokers, 20 non-smokers) without systemic disease who were diagnosed with chronic periodontitis on clinical and radiological examination were included in the study. The control group consisted of 40 individuals, 20 of whom were healthy smokers and 20 who were non-smokers, from a periodontally. Clinical measurements (plaque index, gingival index, clinical attachment level, probing pocket depth) and gingival fluid samples (GCF) were taken from the patients. Statistical analysis of the samples were performed with Shapiro Wilk test, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskall Wallis test and Chi square test. Chronic periodontitis is higher than healthy for the amount of adropine in DOS and periodontal clinical index averages (p<0,001). For the amount of adropine in DOS, there was no statistically significant difference between smoking chronic periodontitis and non-smoking chronic periodontitis or smoking healthy and non- smoking healthy. According to our study, the result is that cigarette does not affect DOS adropine level.
