Abstract (EN)

It is possible to transfer the existing plant diversity in Turkey from the present to the future, by protecting and preserving them. As one of the first countries to start the survey, collection, preservation and evaluation of the plant diversity in question for this purpose, these studies continue today. This project was carried out with the aim of improving the basis of plant breeding and cultivating varieties, collecting and multiplying local genotypes used in obtaining new varieties and bringing these local genotypes to the country's economy. The experiment was carried out at Siirt University, Faculty of Agriculture and Department of Horticulture. Siirt local vegetable genotypes (pembedomates-tomatoe, emziklihıyar-cucumber, gelinkarpuzu-watermelon-, şemamsaliho and cefan-melon etc.) were collected and characterizations were carried out based on UPOV criteria. Pomological characterizations are; Plot yield, average fruit weights, fruit length and width, seed house diameter, number of seeds, shell thickness were measured with the help of scales, rulers and caliper. In order to reproduce the Siirt local genotypes, the seeds obtained by selfing and purified in two lines were kept in the vegetable growing seed storage area.
