Abstract (EN)
EFFECT ON PROPERTIES OF FIBER REINFORCED CONCRETE OF SILICA FUME AND SUPERPLASTICIZER (Ph.D. Thesis) Selim HALİLOV GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY July 2003 ABSTRACT In this study, the effects of silica fume and superplasticizer on properties of fiber reinforced concrete were investigated. For this purpose, fiber reinforced concrete and normal concrete mixtures were produced according to C 25. In concrete mixtures, PC 42,5 cement and steel fiber were used. Steel fiber ratio and w/c ratio were kept constant. Silica fume were used as a replacement material some of the cement used in concrete. Silica fume was added to portland cement 7,5 %, 10 %, and 15 % by weight of cement. Superplasticizer in concrete mixtures was used 1,0 %, 1,5 %, 2,0 %. Physical properties of fresh concretes were determined by tests 10x10x50 cm beam specimens were produced and cured at 28, 90, and 180 days. Specimens were cured under two different conditions being standard continuous moist curing and open air curing. Compressive strength, tensile strength, abrasion strength and freeze-thaw resistance tests on hardened concrete specimens were carried out. Fiber reinforced concretes and normal concretes were compared with each other as well as with Portland cement concrete. The highest compressive strength was obtained with 1.5 % superplasticizer and with 10 % silica fume replacement fiber reinforced concretes.IV Science code : 967 Key words : Fiber reinforced concrete, Steel fiber, silica fume, superplasticizer Page number : 112 Adviser : Assoc.
