Abstract (EN)

As well known, our country ?especially our region- is positioned in a geography that has a high risk of earthquake. It is a recent subject to research the behavior of silty soils that we often see in the living areas of our region, while the earthquake hits. This thesis is expected to be a helpful document to use the results of using ?SWCC curves experiments? to determine the liquefaction potential of silty soils. The thesis is about determining the characteristic of water-soil in silty soils. Some samples that taken from the city center of Adapazarı will be prepared and different ratios of clay will be added in to prepare slurries. These slurries will consolidate under vertical stress. Then soil-water characteristics were obtained by using pressure plate and filter paper techniques. soil classification tests were done for every samples. Than the pore size distribution curves were obtained by using these SWC curves. And finally, the effect of clay ratio to liquefaction in silty soils was observed by using these space size distribution curves.
