Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to determine the effect of simulation supported science teaching on the academic success of 6th grade students. For this purpose, mixed method was used. The sample of the research consists of 45 students in Emir Sencer Secondary School in Kartal district of Istanbul province. 12 girls and 11 boys in the experimental group; There are 11 girls and 11 boys in the control group. In the quantitative part of the study, pretest-posttest quasi-experimental method; In the qualitative part, misconceptions test was applied. The related t test was used in the analysis of the quantitative part. To determine the significance of the difference between the two sample groups, the correlated t-test was performed. In the analysis of the data in the qualitative part of the research, an evaluation was made regarding the question types. According to the results of the analysis, it was understood that there was a significant difference between the pretest-posttest scores of the experimental group and the control group, in which the academic achievement test was applied. When the post-test results obtained from the academic achievement test of the experimental and control group students were compared, a significant difference was found in favor of the experimental group. According to the results obtained from the Computer Assisted Instruction scale in the experimental group, a significant difference was determined between the pre-test and post-test scores. When the Computer Assisted Instruction Scale scores for the control group were evaluated, it was understood that the post-test scores were lower than the pre-test scores. When the post-test scores of the control and experimental groups were compared for the scores obtained from the Computer Assisted Instruction Scale, it was determined that there were significant results in favor of the experimental group. According to the misconceptions test results, the students in the experimental and control groups have misconceptions. Keywords: Simulation, computer assisted instruction, science teaching, body systems.
