Abstract (EN)
In the last few decades, scientists have been rapidly developing new techniques to exploit the THz part of the spectrum, and with the development of fast and reliable THz sources like THz Quantum Cascade Laser, the need to develop fast and reliable THz detectors became obvious and urgent, and the THz QWP is one of the best candidates to fill this gap. This thesis reports a new THz quantum well photodetector with a peak frequency operation of about 3.1 THz and presents a simulation study for the potential profile, the absorption coefficient and the dark current of the device using a developed MATLAB simulations that have been tested by replicating previously published results in the literature.
