Abstract (EN)
Objective: The aim of this study is to compare the amount of apically extruded debris during root canal shaping of mandibular incisors with simulated apical root resorption using different Ni-Ti file systems. Method: A total of 108 extracted mandibular incisors were used in the study. Fifty-four teeth were designated as the control group and divided into three subgroups (ProTaper Next, VDW.Rotate, Reciproc). In the experimental group, comprising 54 teeth, the apical portions were modified to simulate apical root resorption. These teeth were subsequently divided into three subgroups (ProTaper Next, VDW.Rotate, Reciproc) in the same manner as the control group for root canal shaping. The debris coming out from the apex was collected in eppendorf tubes weighed with a precision balance beforehand and the solutions in them were evaporated in the incubator. Then, it was measured with a precision balance with a precision with an accuracy of 10⁻⁵ g. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA. Results: The amount of extruded debris was significantly higher in the resorption group compared to the non-resorption group. A statistically significant difference was found between the amount of apically extruded debris in all groups. Conclusion: The study revealed that all file systems caused apical debris extrusion. Among the groups, Reciproc was found to produce the highest amount of debris in both the resorption and non-resorption groups, whereas VDW Rotate resulted in the least debris extrusion
