IV DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A NEURO-FUZZY CONTROLLED UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLY (Ph. D. Thesis) Ismail ATACAK GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECNOLOGY April 2005 ABSTRACT In this thesis, a single phase on-line uninterruptable power supply (UPS) has been designed and realized. Designed UPS consists of power factor correction (PFC), buck/boost converter, and inverter stages. Simulation studies of control techniques used in the UPS have been made and appropriate control technique for each stage has been selected. According to the results of the selection process of the control technique by using simulations, average current control technique has been found more successful for PFC stage, current mode control technique has been found more appropriate for buck converter, boost converter and inverter stages of the UPS. Proportional _integral (PI) controller, fuzzy logic (FL) controller, and neuro fuzzy (NF) controller has been used as a controller and their effects on the performance of the system has been investigated. The application of the system has been realized based on a TMS320F2812 digital signal processor. The results of the simulation and application studies of the UPS showed that the NF controller are relativelly more successful than the PI controller.
