Abstract (EN)

This study is conducted in an attempt to measure university students' sensitivity levels to environmental issues and risks. Besides, it tries to find out about the interaction between university students' behaviors regarding environment and the faculties/programs they are enrolled in. The participants of this study are 450 students enrolled in Faculty of Education, Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Engineering and Arthitecture, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and Vocational School at Sinop University. Quantitative research design, more specifically a correlational research design was employed in this study. Data collection instruments consist of demographic survey and 24-item environment sensitivity scale. It was examined whether the participants responses to the environment sensitivity scale differ based on variables such as age, gender, grade and the program. Also, through this questionnaire this study tries to determine students' views on environmental sensitivity behaviors and the adequacy of environmental education they received in formal education institutions. Results show that based on student responses to the questionnaire, there is not enough education given about air, water and soil pollution in formal education institutions and there is a difference between the environmental sensitivity of the students according to some personal characteristics.
