Özet (EN)
Inwestigation of kidney volume by stereological metod in the chinchillaIt is critically important to know the volume of kidneys, which are vital for the body, in order to use the volume data in personal treatment or to contribute to other studies. In our work, the aim was to calculate the total volume of the kidney of chinchilla by using Archimedes principle and Cavalier Method. In our research, 10 (5 female, 5 male) healthy adult chinchilla kidneys were chosen as subject of the study, which were previously used in nervous system studies and kept in detection solution in Afyon Kocatepe University.Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Anatomiy. Average weight of the kidneys used in the study changed from 1,5 to 1,8 grams. Average volumes of kidneys were calculated by using Archimedes principle as 1.11 cm3 for males and 0,94 cm3 for females. However, by Cavalier Method it was calculated as 0,97 cm3 for males and 0,84cm3 for females. Error coefficient was found to be 0,03. It was observed that the average volume of male kidney was higher than female. The total volume of kidney can be calculated by using Archimedes principle or Cavalier Method whereas the volumes of cortex, medulla and pelvis can only be calculated by Cavalier Method.????????????????.It was found that the results of this study were stereologically similar to previous studies. It was concluded that this stereological study could provide a significant contribution to other stereological studies.
