Abstract (EN)

Şişli, one of the relatively newer settlements of Istanbul was inhabited towards the mid 19th century. The palaces and mantions in vast gardens have been replaced by the apartment buildings which reflect the taste of the occidental architecture with many ornaments in the following century. Only few of the those have remained up today. In the frame of this thesis, the residence buildings from the 19th and 20th Century in a certain area of Şişli district has been studied as in the prosess of urbanism. The reflection of affects of westernisation on people and architecture in this area has been researched with the geografical, physical and historic facts along the 19th century The current situation of the study area has been explained by various analysises and in situ (on actual site)Features of the transition int the selected buildings from the 19th and 20th Century has been formed and recreated by various plans, photos, drawings, old engravings, archive researches and working on silhouttes. Having studied on historic buildings and the area enlightened by the various data mentioned above, the conservation suggestions has been listed.
