Abstract (EN)
People built buildings for many different purposes, particularly housing. Structures are exposed to many external forces and they have to resist these forces. One of the most important external forces acting on buildings is the earthquake. Therefore, when designing a structure, earthquake forces must be considered. how accurately estimated the possible maximum horizontal acceleration values that influence the structure is highly effects on using economic resources. On the other hand, maximum horizontal accelerations that will affect to the the structure because of the earthquakes, it causes the structures not to be built as required standards and strength or high costs. Estimation of the maximum horizontal acceleration forces due to an earthquake for the structures are done by statistical evaluation of the earthquake data observed in previous years. Accuracy of a relationship established with a statistical study, highly depends on the amount of appropriate data and site compatibility of the earthquake data. The peak ground acceleration due to an earthquake for a region is estimated by the attenuation relationships. As the earthquake data increases and changes with the new earthquakes in time, the attenuation relationships should be updated in certain periods by taking into account the new earthquake data. In addition, the accuracy of established relations is increasing with the data which represent the region properties like tectonic characteristics, local soil properties, distance properties, magnitude properties, etc. In order to establish highly accurate and representative attenuation relationship for a certain region, it needs the earthquake data belong to the same region as many as possible. In this study, attenuation relationships for different seismic regions are established with using past data on earthquakes have occurred in Turkey. Maximum likelihood and least squares methods were used to establish the attenuation relationships. Established attenuation relationships with both methods have close results but they have some differences too. In this study, attenuation relationship established by both methods are given comparatively.
