Cost analysis of seismic isolation systems

The theory and technology of base isolation have been developed for the last three decades.Base isolation has the approach of reducing the response of a building instead of increasingit?s durability aganist earthquake. Therefore overforcing induced by ground motions, can bedecreased.In this thesis study, base isolation systems are basicly classified as elastomeric-based isolationsystems and the systems based on sliding. The theoretical basis of base isolation is explainedand general equations of motion are presented in the following chapter. Mechanicalcharacteristics and modelling of two basic groups are described.According to the study of this thesis, two kinds of system models have been calculated asfixed base and seismic isolated base by the help of computer program Sta4Cad and have beentried to find estimated costs according to the design.
