Abstract (EN)
In this study, the design of the insulation system was carried out using the ELF method defined in Turkish Building Earthquake Code-2018 (TBEC-2018).Taking into account the TBEC-2018 standards, a lead rubber core insulator was designed under a 4-storey reinforced concrete structure and was intended to determine the effect of characteristic strength ratio (Q/W), period change (T) and characteristic strength ratio parameters on the insulator behavior. The design of a seismic isolator is investigated by considering different soil class, period and characteristic strength ratio parameters. In addition, the effect of distance from the fault line on seismically isolated structures on the response of the seismically isolated structures was investigated, and for this purpose, sixteen locations were selected in Sakarya, some close to the fault line and others far from the fault line. Displacement, shear force and acceleration-displacement response spectra occurring at the seismic isolation level were determined and the parameters affecting the behavior of seismic isolators were investigated. Base shear ratio-displacement graphs are obtained, which are a valuable visual tool to enable designers to quickly determine the design parameters of the isolation system. It has also been shown that the general use of the base shear rate-displacement methodology greatly facilitates the rapid and accurate preliminary design of insulation systems. According to the findings obtained in the study, it was concluded that the distance from the fault line, soil class, insulator period value and characteristic strength significantly affect the maximum insulator displacement (MID) and maximum insulator force (MIF) values.
