Özet (EN)
Various therapeutic agents and chemicals encountered ototoxicity results in cochlear and vestibular organ damage occurring is to be given a generic name. Awareness of the various chemical substances against the inner ear has been known for centuries, and today ototoxicity is an important cause that leads to hearing loss and balance disorder. Human and animal studies has been shown that cisplatin cause changes in the striae vaskülaris and organ of corti. OHC in the cochlea basal folds is the first domain are affected and progressive straightforward to apically and than IHC will be affected. Cisplatin particularly increases the formation of reactive oxygen derivatives in the cochlea. Decreased intracellular glutathione levels that cause changes in antioxidant enzyme activity and thus free radical formation occurs. Defect in the antioxidant defense system causes increase in the lipid peroxidation and thereby causes apoptosis in the hairy cells, support cells, striae vaskülaris, and auditory nerves. If possible odiologic monitoring, and discontinuation of the drug which is causing ototoxicity is the most basic approach for ototoxicity. In many studies various chemoprotective agents used to prevent cisplatin-source ototoxicity. However, there was no consensus on an ideal drug application by intratympanic way. In our study, conducted at Yildirim Beyazit Training and Research Hospital and at Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Dpertment of Experimental Animal Research between May 25- June 25 2011, we investigated the effects of resveratrol applied via the intraperitoneal route, on the ABR and hearing threshold for the prevention of cisplatin associated ototoxicity in a controlled experimental rat study design. It was shown that resveratrol statistically significantly ameliorates the cisplatin associated ototoxicity which was shown by the measurement of ABR1, ABR4, ABR1-4 interval and hearing threshold.
