General structure of bee production and beekeeping activities in Sivas Province

With this work, it is aimed to reveal the necessary factors for increasing the economic production by evaluating the level of beekeeping activities in Sivas region spreading over a wide area and technical, economic and market-market opportunities of honey production and by-products production accordingly. However, it is considered to give an idea to legal or real persons in research, projects, incentives and politics related to beekeeping. A total of 325 beekeeping operations were conducted in 2097 beekeeping enterprises in Sivas province center and 16 districts. The obtained data were evaluated by considering appropriate statistical methods and the present situation, problems and development possibilities of beekeeping in Sivas province were tried to be revealed. It has been observed that growers have hard and long last winter conditions, wintering problems, high quality and queen bee suits, unable to find the market of honey produced, and the activities of the organizations are inadequate. It was observed that the majority of the farmers in the survey were producers over the age of 35, and more information about beekeeping was received from the experienced beekeeper. 21 kg average honey production was done in the region, it is seen as a medium for profit, wholesalers for the producers, negative and harmful for the producer, unions and cooperatives can not give the necessary support to the producers. It was observed that the honey productions of organized and traveling beekeepers with a large number of hives were high. Increasing the number of hives related to these determinations by education, promoting travel, and producing reciprocal projects with government programs of organizations will increase honey production per hive. Increase in honey production and appropriate market conditions will increase the income of the rural sector and will prevent population migration.
