Abstract (EN)
Oat (Avena sativa L.) is an important cereal crop belonging to the Poaceae family and is known for its nutritional value, ability to be grown under various climatic conditions, and high adaptability to marginal soils. Therefore, characterization of physiological traits for the development of new oat varieties is an important objective for breeders. A total of 55 genotypes of oats were tested in the field at the Agricultural R&D Center of Sivas Science and Technology University in 2023 for different agro-morphological traits. The goal was to find the best genotypes for future breeding programs. The experiment was conducted according to augmented experimental design. The results revealed that the genotypes showed significant effects on the other traits except for grain weight in the panicle. The study revealed significant differences among genotypes in terms of panicle emergence time, which varied between 50,63 and 62,49 days. Ripening time showed a wide adaptation potential by varying between 81,26 and 93,26 days. There were notable differences in plant height, ranging from 51,73 to 99,03 cm. Panicle length varied between 12,13 and 31,64 cm, and panicle grain weight varied between 0,63 and 2,04 g. Grain yield varied between 117,89 and 540,92 kg/da, and it was determined that there was a wide variation. It was determined that there was a high level of variation among the oat genotypes used as material in the study, and that the available material could be evaluated in breeding programs in terms of yield components affecting yield such as grain yield and cluster length.
