Selection of hawthrown (Crataegus spp.) genotypes naturally growing in the regions of Yıldızeli and Şarkışla in Sivas province

Abstract (EN)
This research was carried out in Yıldızeli and Şarkışla districts and villages of Sivas Province between 2018 and 2019. The hawthorn population and genotypes naturally found in these areas were determined, and variety candidate genotypes were analyzed in detail. 12 hawthorn genotypes were selected from a total of 4497 hawthorn populations determined in the villages of Sivas Yıldızeli and Şarkışla districts, where the study was carried out, on 39 hawthorn genotypes determined by preselection, according to the weighted grading method, which was made by taking into account the first-year tree yield and fruit size characteristics. In the second year, more detailed observations and analyzes were made on 12 hawthorn genotypes. In the research; besides phenological and morphological observations and measurements; average fruit weight (g), fruit wideth (mm), fruit length (mm), number of seeds (pieces/fruit), total soluble solid(TSS) amount (%), total dry matter (%), pH analysis and other chemical properties such as titretable acidity (%) were also investigated. Harvest dates of the 12 genotypes examined took place between September 23-28. Average fruit weight of these genotypes by years is 1.03-6.2 g; fruit lengths 12.57-20.86 mm; fruit diameters 12.83-23.53 mm; fruit seed numbers 2.9 - 5.1 pieces; total soluble solid % 11.8-26.3; 100 seeds weight 7.12-20.30 g; The total dry matter content was found to be % 30.6- 46.85, pH 3.30-3.85 and titretable acidity between % 0.82 and 2.75. At the end of the research, 58YLDZ19, 58YLDZ20, 58YLDZ17 and 58ŞRKL02 genotypes, which got the highest score at the end of the weighted ranking among 12 genotypes, were suggested as promising cultivar candidates.
