Analysing the cultural varieties of the halay melodies of Sivas and its region to be used in violin education

ANALYSING THE CULTURAL VARIETIES OF THE HALAY MELODIES OF SİVAS AND ITS REGION TO BE USED IN VIOLIN EDUCATION (Ph.D. Thesis) Mustafa Hilmi BULUT GAZI UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY September 2001 ABSTRACT A lot of things have been done for the violin, a universal instrument, in order I o make it widespread, adopt and be liked. This study has been carried out for those purposes most of the students who are at Sivas Cumhuriyet University faculty of Education, music teacher training program, are from Sivas and before they got accepted to the program they had already played bağlama and had known most of the Sivas region melodies. Therefore, Sivas and its regional halay melodies are used as materials in this sudy. Motifs taken from these halay melodies procude exercises for violin education and these halay melodies are examined in terms of cultural diversity in this research. Before all the things mentioned above are researched, the views of violin educators who work at the universities faculties of Education, music teacher training programs in our county were taken into consideration.
