Abstract (EN)
Dying by vegetables dyes studied for centuries has become important again nowadays. Moreover, the carpet woved with wool yarn dyed with vegetable dye are prefered. In our country having many dye vegetables inside its natural vegetables, one of the place in which vegetable dyes are used at most is Sivas. The history of Sivas Carpets is very old. The dye vegetables such as Salvia sp., Juglans regia., Alkanna tinctoria, Berberis vulgaris, Pinus brutia ten., Reseda luteola, Verbascum sp., Euphorbia used for Sivas hand woven carpets have a significant place in natual dyes. In this research, the colours obtained from this vegetables and their colour fastness to light, to abrasion and to water spotting on wool carpet yarns were studied. Also, in this research, the most proper mordant ratio was tried to be determined. To obtain hot extracts, the vegetables boiled in the period of one hour and in the raito of 100% by taking into consideration the weight of the wool carpet yarns. By using these extracts and previously prepared 5 each mordant in the ratio of 2% and 4% by taking into consideration the weight of the wool carpet yarns, with mordants 80 each, without mordant 8 each, totally 88 each dyeing processes were determined. The colours of dyed wool yarn were labeled. The colour fastnesses such as colour fastness to light were found as 1 to 7, to abrasion 1 to 5, water spotting 3 to 5 as wet and 4 to 5 as dry. Mordant and mordant ratio were found to be effective on these 3 fastness value investigated.
