Profession perspectives of civil aviation students: A field study in Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University

Civil aviation sector, which has an important place in terms of individual transportation operations, develops and grows day by day. Therefore, more than ever, qualified training and personnel are needed in this field. However, it is not known what the perspective of the individuals studying in this field towards the profession is, to what extent they are satisfied with their profession and what they think about their future. This issue has critical importance in order to provide a better-quality education for this sector and to take the field further. Due to the limited number of scientific studies on the subject in the literature, the perspectives of students studying in the civil aviation programs of Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University Vocational School have been discussed in this research. A questionnaire was prepared using a scale determined via the literature review. Data were collected from 241 students studying in the relevant university's Cabin Services, Aircraft Technology and Civil Air Transport Management programs by using the prepared questionnaire form. Various findings were reached by analyzing the data obtained in a statistical package program. It is thought that important results have emerged regarding whether there is a significant difference in the perspective of the participants on the profession according to their gender, class and the program they studied. In this context, the results were discussed and interpreted by making a comparison with other studies in the literature.
