Abstract (EN)
Four radon monitoring stations were built on the Sivrice Fault Zone which is a part of the East Anatolian Fault System that one of the very important two fault systems which tends to produce earthquake in Turkey. The soil radon monitoring data which recorded by those stations, the environmental gamma and the gross alpha and gross beta concentrations in the soil and water samples which collected around the stations and their radon exhalation rate were analyzed. Therefore, using the fetched data the soil radon fluctuation on the zone by monitoring method and the level of the natural radioactivity was determined. It is seen that the geological construction of Sivrice Fault Zone and the environmental factors have an effect on the variation of the determined parameters. The affect of some atmospheric parameters (temperature, atmospheric pressure and humidity) on the variation of soil radon on the fault zone and the soil radon monitoring as an earthquake precursory were investigated. It is shown that the soil radon monitoring data could be used as one of the very important parameter in earthquake prediction by counting the affect of the atmospheric parameters sorted out from the determined data over the fault zone. It is generally determined that the measured amount of the parameters were relatively lower in the winter than the other seasons.
