Typological analysis of the projection structure of Sivrihisar traditional houses

The projection, which have become the symbols of traditional houses, streets and cities, have been seen in the Anatolian geography for centuries. There are many features in civil architecture examples that vary from city to city, from building to building. There are many different types of projection like these. The material, construction technique, form, solid-void, decorations, and disposition of the cantilever vary according to the regions. This variability creates the character of the buildings and differentiates the effect on the façade. Although the shape, position on the façade, the state of openness and closure of the projections are discussed in many of the works examined, it is striking that the structure of the bay window has not been examined in detail. Sivrihisar district of Eskişehir province was chosen for the examination of the structural system of cantilever. There are many preserved buildings in the city, which has developed since ancient times due to its location on the transportation route on Güneş Hillside. The registered structures of 11 neighbourhoods within the urban conservation area were examined for the study. Within the scope of the study, the structure and flooring system under the projection of the traditional Sivrihisar Houses examined were discussed. The conservation-oriented zoning was used to identify the registered structures in the fieldwork. In order to examine the system, detailed documentation was made on site and the projection were inventoried. The connection details of the structure under the projection, the structure system model and the types of flooring are examined in detail. While evaluating the findings, the data were crossed with each other. As a result of the study, how the typology of the structure system under the projection of Sivrihisar civil architecture samples was formed and what the type density was. The most common type in the structure system under the projection is the overlapped beam system with a rate of 48.21%. In the underfloor, non-intervented type is the most common with a rate of 69%.
