Abstract (EN)

The fact that emerging technologies manifest themselves in the field of communication as it is in every field also causes the media concept to be influenced by it. The integration of traditional media with these new communication technologies has obviously led to the emergence of a new media concept. This internet-supported media, which is called as the new media organization, also allows its users to produce content. The new media format by which users can produce their own content has quickly become a popular topic all over the world, and as a result of this popularity, many social networking sites that are described as social media have emerged. These social networks, which are part of everyday life in almost every aspect, give its users the opportunity to talk in every area ranging from movies, politics to sports, from cinemas to everyday life situations. On account of this feature, many users who have common interests but are geographically distant from each other can gather together under a common roof and transfer their ideas about their interests and thoughts. The feature of social media to collect users under a common roof is now also actively involved in political election processes. Social media, which enables political actors to reach the masses quickly, cheaply and easily in political election processes such as presidential elections, general elections and referendums also gives the voters the opportunity to act in common with other users who have the same idea, to present their ideas to people with different opinions and to express themselves. With these features, social media called a new public sphere. In this study, contents about ''Referendum on 2017 Turkey Constitutional Amendment'' were analyzed in Twitter, which is one of the most known and used social networking sites. The sharings under hashtags such as #evetdiyeceğimçünkü and #hayırdiyeceğimçünkü by the users were examined with the content analysis method. It was tried to determine how many of these sharings are informative, how many sharings have negative content, what the most used keywords in these sharings are, and how the users use social media in the political election processes.
