The role of personality in political attitudes and behaviors: The case of Eskişehir

The general aim of this research is to compensate for the lack of studies on psychological factors in political attitudes and behaviors in the literature and to reveal the differences between the personality typologies of individuals in terms of their political behaviors and attitudes. For this reason, the research investigates the role of personality in political attitudes and behaviors. The research is descriptively designed with the survey model. First of all, a literature review on political attitudes and behaviors and personality was conducted. Subsequently, 5 different scales were used for the measurement. In the first part, a personal characteristics questionnaire was applied to define the demographic characteristics of the individuals participating in the study. In the second part, in order to determine the personality typologies of the individuals participating in the research, the Life Outlook questionnaire, which was prepared based on Carl Gustav Jung's personality theorem, was applied. In the third part, three different scales, namely political interest, political participation and voter behavior scale, were applied to determine the political attitudes and behaviors of the individuals participating in the research. The questions were sent to the voluntary participants online. The questions were then analyzed through SPSS and some inferences were made in the light of quantitative data. As a result of the research, statistical data revealed that there are some significant differences between the personalities of the individuals participating in this research in terms of their political attitudes and behaviors.
