Abstract (EN)

Political instability has a significant place in the literature which is studied by economists and political scientists. Political instability has been thought to be reflected by regime changes or different leanings regarding political parties. The main cause of those reactions is thought to be `change? within the society. Several theories studied political instability from the perspective of `change?. The main theories identified are economic, modernization, economic norms, and regime type theories. However, the explanatory strength of the theories varies and they should be studied on cases in order to see the causal relationship better. The explanations of the theories are applied on the cases of Germany and Turkey for seeing the application of the theories on concrete events. Those cases have similar points yet with an important difference which enables identification of pattern of stability. Germany is considered as a stable country in terms of political instability whereas Turkey may live conflict in its transition period of stabilization. So, under the light of the theories searching for the causes of instability and ways to stabilize, an answer can be found if the theories work for the cases in a comparative manner.
