Abstract (EN)
Objective: This research was conducted to determine the effect of ACT based and MI supported counseling on functional recovery and motivation levels in individuals with schizophrenia. Material Methods: This research was conducted as a research in a mixed model including pre-test and post-test, semi-test model and qualitative methods. Power analysis was performed at the beginning of the study and the study was carried out with 87 patients (36 experiments, 51 controls) selected. Data were collected between September 2018 and ın May 2019 and Patient Information Form, FROGS, and MSP were used to obtain the data. The experimental group consisted of 8 counseling sessions in Community Mental Health Centers in Malatya. No intervention was performed in the control group. In the analysis of quantitative data, number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, chi-square, t-test in dependent groups, t-test in independent groups were used, content analysis was used in the analysis of qualitative data. Results: In the experimental group, the posttest FROGS sub-dimension and total score averages increased compared to the control group and the difference between the mean scores was statistically significant (p <0.05). In the experimental group pretest and posttest subscale and total means scores of FROGS was found to be statistically significant (p<0.05). As a result of the content analysis, three main themes and 10 categories were developed that motivated patients' adherence to drug therapy. The patients in the experimental group stated that they were able to participate in daily life activities and social relationships, to accept the disease and to live life satisfaction and value-oriented life despite side effects. Conclusion: ACT-based and MI-based counseling was effective in improving the functional recovery and motivation levels of schizophrenia patients.
