Abstract (EN)

Exams encountered at every stage of life have played a significant role in shaping children's lives from a young age. In our country, exams that are administered for transitioning between educational stages are considered important by families. The significance that families and society place on these exams causes students to experience exam anxiety. To help students manage the anxiety they experience during the exam process, families, who are the primary support system outside of school, have important responsibilities. For example, providing the necessary psychological and physical environment can facilitate the process for the student. This study aims to identify the responsibilities of parents whose children are preparing for exams and to examine these responsibilities in order of their importance. The study involved interviews with 10 parents (6 female, 4 male) selected through purposive sampling. A semi-structured personal information form prepared by the researcher and a data collection tool directed at the parents were used in the interviews. The research utilized a qualitative research design, specifically phenomenology. The obtained findings were analyzed using content analysis. The data were presented to experts, and revisions were made based on their feedback to ensure validity and reliability. As a result of the study, the responsibilities of parents were categorized into 20 separate codes. These responsibilities were expressed under the themes of "Supporting Psychological Well-being," "Improving School-Family Cooperation," "Enhancing and Facilitating the Physical Learning Environment," "Providing Economic Support," and "Providing Mentorship Services." The findings were discussed in the context of relevant literature, career counseling, and educational practices. Recommendations were made for families and institutions. Key Words: Exams Anxiety, Studying Efficiently, Creating Goals, Vital Support, Motivation, Working Environment, Mentoring Servıce
