Abstract (EN)

The aim of the research is to analyse the views of high school students on the effects of the physical environment on performance. At the beginning of the research, primarily focus is on the factors that affect learning, especially physical conditions of learning environment and exam rooms that affect students' attention and motivation. The independent variables are gender, age, the type of school, grade of class and attending SBS exam. The research was carried out in 2012 - 2013 academic year on 319 students studying in different high schools affiliated to İstanbul Üsküdar District Education Directorate. 160 female and 159 male students got involved in this research. In order to find out the views of the students and demographic characteristics, a survey has been prepared by the researcher. The questions in thesis survey were all answered by the high school students. The data obtained by the researcher were analyzed with SPSS 12 software package programme. Personal information of the students that attended the survey has been analysed by frequency and percent. Moreover, it was detected whether there is a significant dependence between the opinions of the students on some variables by chi-square analysis.
