Abstract (EN)
In this study, regarding the point of view of academics and students, it is purposed to evaluate that the academic success of Gazi University?s students who are attending Ankara Profession High School of Handcrafts Program. Working universe of the study comprises of Profession High Schools which are taking students without examination from vocational and technical high school education, students of Handcrafts Section and academics of this section. Sampling of the study comprises of Gazi University?s students who have attended Ankara PROFESSON High School of Handcrafts Program in 2005-2006 and academics who have worked in this section. The Study is a descriptive study based on literature scanning method. As a result of literature scanning, a Likert type scale has been prepared to administer to the sections academics and students for the purpose of obtaining data which shall constitute this study. Students average academic success is taken from official web site of Gazi University. Total 62 students and 32 academics were administered the scale and the data obtained therefrom is analyzed on SPSS version 13 software package. The analysis of the data were obtained from statistical techniques as frequency, percentage, aritmetical average and unidirectional variance analysis by entering the datas on the SPSS software programme. In the study the meaningfulness level was accepted as 0,05. As a result of the study; 1) there is a meaningful difference according to the age of students and their academic success. When the age of student grows older the success gets down. 2) there is a meaningful differance according to the high school success point and academic success. When the high school success point which the students came from get higher, their academic average also becomes higher. 3) there is a meaningful difference between students middle education point and their academic success. Vertical transition wants of students to undergraduate education increase academic average. 4) Academics think that number of students in a class and times of lessons are serious difficulty about success but students don?t think such as academics. 5) Academics think that number of classes are not enough but students don?t think such as academics. 6) Academics think that they accommodate studies that determine and improve ability of students and they provide concordant relations with students, but students don?t think such as academics.
