Abstract (EN)

Robots are entering every aspect of our lives to make our lives easier, and educational settings, specifically classrooms, are one of them. As one of the main user groups of classroom robots, children's contributions to the design of these robots are very valuable. However, their lack of knowledge on state-of-the-art of classroom robots, and the means of communication issues between the child and the designer makes the process challenging. To ease these hurdles, a tangible classroom robot prototyping toolkit for children is developed to be utilized with other design activities while designing classroom robots with children. This thesis presents the development process of the toolkit – from design to evaluation, discusses children's requirements for classroom robots, and compares the use of toolkit with other design activities used in classroom robot design processes with children. An exploratory research approach and user-centric design methods were employed throughout the thesis.
